Legs are very sore. Most likely from the added weight training and no recovery days. It didn't help that I was pushing the stroller. I've kept the workouts light, but I think my legs still need a break.

The knee was weird today. It hurt for awhile, then quite, then hurt, and quit.... and so on. Just when I was ready to stop, the pain would go away. The bigger problem was heavy legs. As we all know, that's an easy issue to fix.... REST.

Had to do extra output to match the input.

Bill,

Way to get the year started with some quality workouts! Now, if I interpret your comments from before correctly, you are still a "maybe" for the Houston marathon? (I might be totally wrong). But if you are, I have had many different respected sources tell me that right about now is when you might want to stop any sort of weight training before a marathon. If I am wrong, just ignore this fool who is just killing some time before having to get back to work! :)

Pulling for you, Bill. Is what David says right? I was going to lift some weights this week since it's a light runnning week. Guess not, now!

Hey Bill...I have a paramedic question for you if you can answer... I've heard of people all of a sudden having a reaction to latex and their throats close off and they can't breathe. Is this anything I need to be concerned about? I wear latex gloves every day and sometimes twice a day and just had that thought this morning...pooper duty, ya know = )

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Definitely agree with the above; the focus now is to get really really fresh for 1/14. Can't get any fitter in the next two weeks; careful not to do anything that steals from your marathon.

Pony,

There's lots of talk about latex sensitivity in the medical field. Mostly, because most disposable items are made of, Latex. I've been a Paramedic for nearly 13 years and I've only had ran into ONE patient with a TRUE latex allergy. I do all the medical supply ordering at the FD, and the whole latex thing is a huge pain in my ^#%%$!! From medical readings, there are two primary people who present with latex allergies. 1) People with a multitude of other allergies and motile system disorders 2) People who've had repeated long-term exposure to latex, such as those with central line(s) and other medical implanted devices made of latex.

In my opinion, you have NOTHING to worry about. But, if it would make you feel better, switch to nitrile gloves for poop duty. I hope this answers your question

Sorry about all the typo’s above. I really should proofread my post.

Hmmmm. The one item should read: multiple system disorder, Not, motile system disorder.

I also, just thought about this.... For the first 10 years of my career, I put on latex gloves 5-15 times per day. Some times leaving them on for up to an hour.

Bill, Please rest yourself for the sake of your own marathon. This two weeks should be all about recovery for you, maybe very light running to keep the rust off but no weight training. Let your muscles untighten. You should take into consideration that your job is a work out in itself. Rested legs not heavy tired legs will benefit you the most. I speak from experince gained from my own mistakes. You alone hold the key to a victorious marathon. Plan your race and race your plan.
My prayers and thoughts are with you Matt W........

Dang that's an impressive day Bill. I'm glad to see you get to a place you feel comfortable. Whatever you decided on Houston, I hope to see you in the near future!
