Cardio - Lite

Felt under the weather, so it was an easy day with the trainer. Thirty minutes on the elliptical (level 3) and twenty minutes walking on the treadmill (3.5 mph @ 3.0%-6.0% incline).

Random rambling...
I really miss running and hanging out with the Houston Striders. Can't wait to catch up with everyone at the Houston Half.
FINALLY broke down and bought a new digital camera. It's a Canon s5-is. Seems really nice and I got a great deal on eBay. If my volunteer duties allow, I'll try to capture some Striders in action and post them here.
Below is the first picture and the end result of my latest project. And it only took me 3-days! That is suppose to be funny, because I assume the average man could construct this in one-day.

I love that playset! We're thinking of getting one for the kiddo for Christmas. How bad was it to get that together? I know the hubby is not looking forward to that part! LOL!

Your Houston Half volunteer gig definitely affords the opportunity to take photos of Striders on the course. This is definitely something we've been short of in years past, we're usually pretty occupied putting the darned thing on.

The play set wasn't hard at all, just time consuming. Five things to think about:

1. Purchase a kit that doesn’t include the lumber. That way you can select your own lumber, plus the ‘kits’ come with smaller dimension lumber and it is usually bottom shelf stuff.

2. You'll need a trailer to haul everything. Some of the lumber is 10 ft long, which is too long for a truck.

3. You need a quality cordless drill with an extra battery. (You’ll be swapping them out often).

4. Parts of the assembly require two strong people to position and align the sections.

5. Don't try to build it on the grass. Construct the tower section on a nearby flat surface (I used the patio) and move it to the location. It is almost impossible to keep it square when building on the grass, which would allow the play set to wobble.

Or, (this is based on experience) purchase a playset that is delivered and setup in your backyard.

I can attest to the issues that Bill describes. Been there, done that!
