Fluid on my Knee

There's a bigger reason I'm not blogging and running...

There seems to be fluid building up on the lateral aspect of my right knee after I run. Initially the swelling wasn't significant and I ran pain-free. Now the fluid is the size of a golf ball and my knee aches. I also noticed tonight that my knee is sore to the touch.

Damn. Damn. Damn.

Since there's not any sharp pain, I biked to Alison's softball game. Woo-Hoo, they won 11-6!!

Andrea's first good ride, post op

Andrea's first bike ride where we actually felt like we were "exercising". She's still a little sore when we hit bumps on the greenbelts, but otherwise a successful ride.

Trying to Bike

Andrea and I TRIED to cycle, but the bumps were too much. She was tough enough to ride three miles, but it's still too early.

PIM

After Andrea's surgery I fell into a slump. I've been trying to take care of her, which gave me an excuse not to exercise. Now I feel crappy both mentally and physically. Not her fault at all. I've been really busy and became the victim of a self-induced slump.

Ran with the PIM'sters today. Two x run-10/walk-2.
Another GREAT run.

Slow Roll

Took a slow easy ride on the trail bike. I plan to sneak out Saturday morning for a 5+ mile run, but only if Andrea is feeling well enough. So, essentially I'm starting my easy day early...

Half Way

Where did this day go? Got off work this morning, back to the fire station at noon for a newspaper picture with the new fire truck, then a buddy of mine came over to help me work on my sprinklers, worked on my gf's birthday gift, and then finally Power in Motion.

We had a GREAT day at PIM. We're at the half way point. We ran 3 X 8-minute run/2-minute walk. In that routine we covered more than 2-miles. Huge accomplishment for EVERYONE and it showed on their faces. It's amazing that a MERE 5-weeks ago people were talking about how tough it was to run 1-minute, yet here they are running 8 continuous minutes, 3 times!

The participants received their Spring 2009 PIM shirts and medals for making it to the halfway point. I also received my "coach" shirt and I'll admit.... I'm really proud to have it. It makes the 1.5 hour round trip drive worth it when I think about the life changes we're making out there.
